Emeco USA has released a new collection called Birds by Yun Li. The collection consists of three birds made from recycled aluminium: a blackbird, a sparrow, and a pigeon.Emeco is well-known for its approach to using recycled materials, including its iconic 1006 Navy Chair and new designs by various designers such as Naoto Fukasawa, Jasper Morrison, Sam Hecht and Kim Colin. The brand is always evolving creatively, led by owner Gregg Buchbinder. The artist Yun Li exclaimed: "To thank Jasper Morrison for supervising my diploma project, I gifted him one of the prototypes of the birds I had made. I didn"t expect him to appreciate my gift so much that he showed it to Emeco"s owner Gregg Buchbinder.""Thanks to Jasper and Gregg"s support, my little side project has evolved into an actual product, and these aluminium birds have now found their perfect home as a part of the Emeco family," added industrial designer Li.This new collection adds a delicate touch to Emeco"s material focus. Yun Li, originally from Taiwan and now based in Paris, is a Salone Satellite alumnus who has worked with Big-Game and Pauline Deltour. His diploma project at Paris" ENSCI-Les Ateliers was supervised by Jasper Morrison, who is one of Li"s main inspirations and the driving force behind the Emeco Birds project. The Birds collection features three minimalist and accurate reproductions of actual bird profiles. Each bird is designed to gently rock when placed on a surface, making them a charming addition to any tabletop display alongside other favourite wooden animals. The creator further went on to elaborate: "Inspired by Enzo Mari"s Nature Series (Serie della Natura), I tried to design a project to express the formal quality of birds with minimal elements through a precise and cost-effective process.""Each element of the Birds family – sparrow, blackbird, pigeon – is crafted from laser-cut aluminium sheets. The result is a sleek and elegant object that captures the essence of the bird"s form," Li concluded.X 关闭
