Hydro is spending NOK 67 million (EUR 6 million) on equipment, structures, and infrastructure upgrades at its aluminium extrusion factory in Lucé, France. The cash will also be used to launch a new staff development programme. Since its inception in 1959, the Lucé company has produced custom-made and standard aluminium profiles using two extrusion presses and an anodizing facility.Hydro employs over 160 people in Lucé, located in the Chartres area, approximately one-hour southwest of Paris. The extra investment will primarily go towards technical on-site renovations. Upgrades and/or replacements will include:\tElectrical equipment\tMechanical equipment\tHydraulic equipment\tBuildings and infrastructure“The Lucé plant has the people and the potential to become an industrial leader in the French landscape. The investment is going to improve the site’s ability to reach its potential,” said Roland Van der Aa, Vice President France for Hydro’s Extrusion Europe business unit.The factory is one of four extrusion factories owned by Hydro in France. Other locations include Albi, Châteauroux, and Puget-Sur-Argens. Hydro Extrusions is the company"s major business unit, providing customised aluminium components and solutions to sectors ranging from automotive and mass transit to building and construction, electronics, offshore, and marine.
